Listen

My ears itch to hear
the sound of rain
laughing unrestrained
underground

My ears long to reach
where my heart is
to know the words
to this song

so I can sing it
and retrace my steps
to that place I've been
many times before

yet unknown to me
I scale new heights
for my restless mind
to sing once again

  5. "My ears itch to hear

    underground"

How beautiful! And so I could quote the whole poem: ears itch, they long--and O the song! Find the words! Sing it again!

  11. This piece is so clean, so uncluttered and well-built. It's simple in the best sense, in that it's not filled with unnecessary wordy parlor-tricks and pretense. Everything is just enough and never too little--which sounds easy, but try doing it.
